Monitored vs Unmonitored Security Systems

The next thing you’ll want to consider is whether you want a monitored or unmonitored security system. What’s our opinion? Monitored is always safer than unmonitored. With a monitored home alarm system, you have someone else looking out for you when you’re asleep, away from home or just busy and unable to check the system’s status. With an unmonitored system, it’s all up to you to keep your eyes on your home. You are in charge of notifying authorities of a break in as well. However, if you’re looking to cut costs you may consider unmonitored because you have no monthly monitoring fee. So it just depends on what your preferences are. FYI, all of our top 3 are monitored systems.

Frontpoint Review

Frontpoint is not only our winner for Best Security System for Renters but also for all home security companies no matter whether you’re renting or a homeowner. They have 100% cellular monitoring, which means no phone or Internet lines can be cut making it safer to use than broadband or landline. (They do use broadband as a backup.) They also have a patented Crash and Smash technology, which prevents the control panel from being destroyed before a distress signal can be sent to the monitoring station. So if the system picks up on motion but the alarm is never disarmed it will assume that there has been an intrusion and the monitoring station will be notified.

Protect is a great choice for renters as well. What we love about this company is that their equipment has a lifetime warranty and the rates are locked in for life. However, unlike Frontpoint, not all the plans are monitored cellularly which is the safest. So if you want cellular monitoring you’ll have to upgrade. Another thing we like about them is that there is no equipment or activation fee. This is extremely rare in the home security field so we like that Protect America offers this click to read.
